A Time

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;" (Ecc. 3:4)We experienced a little of both this past week. Friday morning one of the members of Musa Baptist Church passed away. The whole body hurt for the lost member, yet God was able to use this vicious reminder of sin as an outreach into a lost community. Through the all night vigils held and the various services, the gospel was proclaimed. (It is a Catholic custom to hold all night vigils, or Wake, for the deceased. Members of the church stayed there so that unsaved friends and family would not begin to practice their other rituals as well.)

While in the midst of mourning the loss of a friend, we also celebrated the birthday of several in the church. We were reminded that although life is short, God has giving us the opportunity to know and serve Him. This brings joy, and we need to thank Him for every day we have.

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. (Philippians 3:8)
