An Ode to Fall as the Snow descends...

Growing up we had several crabapple and berry trees in our front yard. In the late fall and winter, these trees would attract many birds, especially migrating robins who appreciated the semi-fermented fruit. A common occurrence was to have one of these robins leave the banquet of the trees and fly right into our picture window. Sometimes they would shake it off and fly away, other times they did not. One Thanksgiving we had a grouse hit the window and provide us with a post-turkey-dinner meal. The moral of the story is don't eat questionable berries (and fly).
